Teeth Whitening

At Alsbury Dental, patients whose teeth look off white, dingy, and dull often benefit from professional home whitening. We can provide you with a potent solution that will oxidize the staining elements in your porous tooth enamel, leaving your teeth pearly white. The kit comes with custom-fitted trays to hold the whitening solution against your teeth, while keeping saliva out. Wear the trays as directed, for a few hours each night over the course of a week or two, and you’ll notice dazzling results. Be sure to keep your trays for future use. If you deplete your supply of whitening solution, simply call our office to order more. A bright smile will make you look and feel sensational!

Adult Orthodontics

When your permanent teeth developed during adolescence, they may have come in crooked, widely spaced, or overlapping. Perhaps you wore braces, but neglected to wear your retainer in your teen and early adult years, so your teeth drifted out of alignment. Or maybe you never underwent orthodontic treatment, and now you feel that wearing metal braces would give you an immature appearance that could negatively impact your image, career, and success. Worry no more! With Invisalign clear orthodontic aligners or Six Month Smiles clear brackets and tooth-colored wires, you can enjoy straighter teeth in a fraction of the time it would take traditional braces to do the job. If you’re ready to enjoy uniformity and balance in your smile, it’s time to talk about modern adult orthodontics with your dentist.

Called the “all-in-one smile makeover” or “instant orthodontics,” porcelain veneers correct a number of dental issues in a single procedure. By covering the front surface of teeth that show in a person’s smile, veneers completely alter facial appearance. The permanent, handmade restorations can reshape teeth, closing gaps, straightening, concealing imperfections, and permanently whitening enamel. In the absence of injury and with proper care, veneers can last 20 years or longer.

Similar to veneers, bonding addresses a wide range of smile imperfections, from discoloration to dental misalignment to chips. However, bonding is made in the office from composite resin, the same material we use for tooth-colored fillings. Dental bonding does not have the strength, and therefore it does not have the longevity, of veneers. Some people prefer bonding as a temporary fix, until veneers become financially feasible, while others simply have bonding reworked every five to ten years. Bonding is especially well suited to correct dental chips in children, whose primary teeth will be lost, and whose adult teeth are still developing.

Tooth Contouring

Some people naturally develop sharp, jagged, or uneven teeth. While veneers can address these cosmetic concerns, in some cases simple contouring can permanently correct these flaws. Contouring involves removing a small amount of tooth enamel to smooth the edges of teeth and make them more visually appealing.

Laser Gum Contouring

Gum tissue can grow long over tooth enamel, covering what would otherwise contribute to beautiful, sparkling teeth. In some cases, gum tissue grows unevenly, creating the visual impression that one tooth is larger or smaller than others. Either way, when the gum line is not ideal, a procedure known as laser gum contouring can quickly and precisely reshape the tissue, making it more attractive. This minimally invasive technique is conducted without the need for sutures or scalpel, and healing is prompt.
