Dental Fillings & Crowns

At Alsbury Dental we stress prevention, but we know that at one time or another, most people will need dental fillings or crowns. Since only one percent of humans avoid getting cavities, the odds are good that you’ll be in our chair for at least one of these procedures at some point.

Dental Fillings

When a tooth is damaged, either by cavities or fractures, a filling is used to restore the structure of the tooth and protect it from further damage or infection. Today’s fillings are made of a composite resin material that blends in seamlessly with your natural tooth. Gone are the days of unsightly and unhealthy silver/mercury fillings. We want what is best for our patients and we want you to love your smile. We can also replace old, broken down amalgam/metal fillings that contain traces of mercury with our beautiful, natural looking composite fillings.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns and tooth, isolated on whiteA dental crown is a custom-made covering or “cap” that fits over a tooth that is decayed, damaged or cracked and is cemented into place to fully encase the visible portion of the tooth. Crowns are made from a variety of materials, including ceramic (porcelain), precious metals, and zirconia.

If a ceramic crown is prescribed, we may use our in-office CAD CAM technology for a same-day crown, so we can design, mill, and secure your permanent restoration in a single appointment. You won’t require a temporary or a follow-up visit!

When a crown is needed the process will usually consist of at least two or possible three visits. The tooth will need to be treated and re-sculptured, an impression will be taken of your teeth in order to create your custom crown and a temporary crown will be fitted onto the tooth until your permanent crown is ready.

At Alsbury Dental, we do have the capability to do a same-day crown. We can design and create your crown right in our office. No waiting! You can have your permanent crown in a single visit.
