Dental Bonding

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that enables you to cover imperfections and flaws at the front of your smile. Bonding typically lasts for about 10 years before it is recommended that it be replaced. You can make use of bonding if you have cracks or chips at the front of your smile or if you have spaces and gaps that are causing you to feel bad about your appearance. Bonding is easily done in the office and takes just minutes to carefully apply.

Why is Dental Bonding needed?

Some people may choose to have bonding done because they have cracks or chips on one or more of their front teeth. Another reason you may be considering bonding is that you have unsightly gaps and spaces between your front teeth. Because bonding can last for up to a decade, it is a long-term solution to many smile problems. You may even choose dental bonding if you have deep discoloration that whitening is not able to remedy.

Procedure For Dental Bonding

Who is a good candidate for Dental Bonding?

Bonding is ideal for most healthy adult patients who are looking for a quick and simple solution for transforming their smile. We will perform an examination prior to doing any bonding work to ensure that it is the right option for you. If you have older bonding that needs to be replaced, this can easily and quickly be done in our office at your earliest convenience. Some people may choose to have bonding done in place of other, more invasive procedures.

What happens during the procedure for Dental Bonding?

The majority of bonding procedures do not require any local anesthetic before the work is started. We begin by buffing down any of the rough edges to the tooth. We then apply a bonding gel to the tooth and wash it away. The composite resin is then applied directly to the tooth and smoothed carefully into place. We then use a specialized light to cure the composite resin so that it does not fall away or break down over time. This process can be repeated on multiple teeth before leaving the office. With careful hygiene and care at home, your new bonding can easily last for about a decade.

If you think you might need dental bonding and are looking to transform your smile, call our office today and we will be happy to help.
